Danny Arguetty is a yoga teacher and workshop presenter at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. His yoga training spans a wide range of topics and he has had the privilege to teach and be intricately involved with teacher training programs both at Kripalu Center, Todd Norian and Ann Greene of Anusara, as well as extensive study with Shiva Rea. His deepest passion in yoga is to support yoga teachers in expanding their practice while integrating effective use of yoga philosophy, themes and dynamic language into their classes. His book Nourishing the Teacher: Inquiries, Insights, and Contemplations on the Path of Yoga is a resource on the above topics for teachers, as well as a wonderful wellspring of inspiration for students.

Kitty Blincoe is a RYT 500, E-RYT 200, AromaReiki practitioner, motivational speaker and yoga teacher trainer in NJ who specializes in therapeutic yoga & meditation for managing stress, insomnia or cancer as well as energizing vinyasa practices. Her style makes you feel good from the center of your heart! Expect a dynamic yoga practice filled with vigor, grace and lightness. Dr. Brett M. Carr (Anatomy and Physiology) graduated from the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic and continued to earn a Masters of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport Nutrition Institute. he also completed post-graduate classes in nutrition, detoxification, weight control, rehabilitation, and sports. He is presently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, and a Basic Sciences Instuctor at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy.

Andrew Burkamp is a Certified Kriya Yoga Teacher and Licensed Psychotherapist. His work is influenced by teachers from Eastern & Western traditions including experienced therapists, Master Yogis, and Native American Shamans. For over a decade he has worked with children, adults, couples and families, addressed addiction in various communities, and taught yoga & parenting groups.

Suzanne Choate has practiced yoga since 2000, and completed her first teacher training in 2004 with David Swenson.  She has been teaching ever since. Suzanne graduated from the 200-hour embodyoga® Teacher Training Program. She is continuing to study with Beryl Bender Birch at The Hard and the Soft Yoga Institute, working toward her 500-hour certification.Suzanne has found that practicing yoga creates a healthier and more balanced body, mind and spirit. She believes that everyone’s journey and needs are different and she caters every class to those attending.  Show up on your mat and continue your journey.

Sharon Cormier is a graduate of the 200 and 500 Sacred Rivers Yoga Teacher Training and has studied Yin Yoga with Paul Grilley and taken teacher training with Sarah Powers that includes the meridian work associated with Yin Yoga. She has also been fortunate to attend trainings led by two well-known teachers: T.K.V. Desikachar and Gary Kraftsow.   She has studied meditation with Lama Surya Das.Sharon is a practicing Buddhist and views the yogic teachings of the Brahma Viharas (Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Friendly Joy and Equanimity) as the basis for a healthy, peaceful and joyful life.   Her book, “Where The Lotus Blooms:  Finding Inner Peace Through Mindfulness, Yoga and Meditation” was recently published and is the basis for her creation of Wholeness Yoga.

Bridget D'Arco is an RN, registered Structural Yoga teacher, and wellness consultant. She is dedicated to providing yoga, fitness, aromatherapy and wellness programs that help students attain their goals safely and enjoyably, in a supportive and empowering environment and forever dedicated to making a difference.

Gauri DesRochers is a Mantra Instructor and a Jyotisha (eastern astrologer).  Jyotish means eyes or light of God.  Gauri has been practicing yoga, mantra and meditation for over 16 years.  A few years ago she also started doing pujas.  Her mantra training comes from Namadeva or Thomas Ashley Farrand.  Gauri spent most of the last six years in India at her guru's ashram chanting millions of mantras as well as doing other austerities which makes her teaching very authentic and brings th energy to the students from her associated lineage as a gurukula or satsang, As a Jyotisha, she was trained in India directly by a monastic. Gauri is a sanskrit name meaning "The Devi who was burned by the fires of yoga and reborn in the Himalayas". Gauri is also a form of Paravati (feminine form of Shiva). Gauri's mission is to use Jyotish to help people understand their karma and spiritual lessons for this lifetime and then use mantras to help burn their karma and work towards liberation. She lives six months of  the year with her guru in India and continues to study under her Jyotish mentor.

Patricia DiFazio (Yogic Philosophy and Meditation) has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and has been living a yogic lifestyle for the last 20 years. Patty has studied yoga with many of the great yogic masters of India. She has traveled to India nine times where she lived in an ashram. She was certified as a yoga instructor through the Yoga Institute in Houston, Texas and also through the Atma Vidya Ashram. Patty continues to study with her teacher Swamini Lalitanada of the Atma Vidya Ashram. It was her guru Swamini Lalitananda who gave Patty her spiritual name Divya Jyoti which means Divine Light. This personal, in depth spiritual teaching has prepared Divya to teach yogic philosophy and meditation techniques as well as lead asana. Patty (Divya Jyoti) DiFazio has been teaching yoga at the New England Athletic Club, At Cromwell Yoga Studio (Facilitated Healing Center) and at the Hindu Temple in Middletown, CT. for the last 15 years.  She has been a YTT trainer since 2005.

Jennifer Errickson completed her 200 hour teacher training at Sacred Rivers Yoga. She teaches the mom and baby series classes, All Levels Flow, and an Intro to Flow Series. Jennifer’s classes provide a supportive environment for mothers to explore yoga as they move, breathe, and connect with their little ones. Her background is in the field of education where she holds a Master’s Degree as well as experience as a classroom teacher. Teaching yoga has allowed Jennifer to use these skills and her own experience as a mom while bringing the beautiful gift of yoga into the lives of new mothers.

Priscilla Gale is a life-long spiritual seeker, devoted to a life of learning, having studied multiple spiritual paths and healing modalities in the service of mankind, and the planet.  She is a Reiki Master/Teacher of Usui-Tibetan Enhanced Reiki, Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher, Shamballa Reiki Master/Teacher and Blue Moon Isis Master/Teacher.  She has her Masters Certification in Himalayan Singing Bowls. In addition she is a Crystal Singing Bowl  Practitioner, Reconnective Healing Practitioner, Reconnection Healing Practitioner, Magnified Healing Level III Practitioner and a Bars Practitioner.

Doug Greene received his spiritual name Shivaraj at a naming ceremony in the year-long Acharya Intensive, an ashram of 12 students invited to learn the teachings of Swami Kripalu.  Shiva is a name for the aspect of life relating to transformation.  Doug teaches that the process of transformation is one of "involution and evolution", whereby we compassionately accept and absorb into ourselves that which we habitually deny or avoid. By learning to accept all of these qualities as aspects of ourselves, we then evolve and grow.  Teaching Yoga classes and workshops is Doug's way of sharing this truth with others.
Doug has studied the Eastern metaphysical and mystical arts and sciences - Yoga, Reiki, Pranic Healing, Ayurveda and Yoga Tantra - on a continuing basis since 1972. He received his Reiki Master training and initiation from William Lee Rand,  and studied with Gail Bentley Walsh, founder of Yoga Mountain in New York for his 200-hour Yoga Teacher training.  He then went on to Kripalu Center for Yoga for his 500-hour Yoga Teacher training certification. While there, he studied under disciples of the Indian Kundalini Yoga Master Swami Kripalu, who continue to guide him along his path to this day.
Doug credits his practice of Yoga for helping to mange stress and to maintain his health, both physically and mentally. He enjoys snowboarding, hiking, surfing, woodworking and boatbuilding, photography, music and the arts.  
The owner of Greene and Company, a successful accounting and investment advisory company, Doug and his wife reside in rural Connecticut.

Rick Haesche (The Art & Science of Traditional Thai Massage) Rick completed his initial massage training at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in 1994, where he was first introduced to Thai Massage during his last term of study. His interest in this beautiful and ancient body work led him to study Thai Massage in Boston, MA, and eventually in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 1997. He has been teaching Thai Massage workshops to massage therapists throughout New England since 1999. Rick is a nationally certified, Connecticut state licensed massage therapist, and has a practice at Sacred Rivers Yoga.

Margo Hennebach, GCFP, LGSM(MT) is a founding member of the international trio, Mad Agnes, and a lifelong movement lover, especially yoga, dance, and Salsa. With a BM in Piano and a graduate degree in Music Therapy, she has been a Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2003. Jack Lynch (Ashtanga) received his formal training from renowned teachers Beryl Bender Birch and David Swenson. These accomplished mentors have instilled in Jack a deep understanding of the ancient Ashtanga system (both first and second series), and imparted an abundance of skillful adjustment techniques. Jack has also studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Ana Forrest, Nancy Gilgoff and Doug Swenson. Lynn MacDonald is a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer since 2002.   She has a strong passion for health, fitness and wellness and shares her passion with many of her classes.  In addition to Yoga, Lynn teaches several other fitness classes and promotes wellness and preventive maintenance to help ease the symptoms of aging!  Lynn owns and operates a small business, Rocky Hill Yoga & More.  Currently enrolled in the Stott Pilates Reformer Training Program.

Marcie Mauro, RYT, CMMS, CMBM is a graduate of the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program of Sacred Rivers Yoga. Pamela Mirante, lead trainer of True North Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Sacred Rivers. True North Yoga's 200-hour YTT is a high-impact program, created and led by Pamela Mirante, 500 RYT, certified Baptiste teacher, and a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience. Currently, Pamela is the yoga teacher for an outpatient substance abuse clinic. She is responsible for creating and implementing a yoga recovery curriculum for people who are addicted, detoxing, and are in recovery from substances. Pamela has extensive training and expertise with working with people who suffer and live with mental health dis-eases. Her training supports clients to transform their lives by encouraging them to face their fears on and off their mats by teaching them skills and tools that create the courage required to take change to transformations.

Peter Oliver, Ph.D., L.P.C., N.C.C., founder of Learn2bMindful, is a state licensed (CT) and nationally certified Professional Counselor with extensive experience in Mindfulness meditation and the healing arts. In clinical practice Peter has witnessed the pain of suffering caused by stress and stress-related illnesses. On a personal level, he has experienced the beneficial effects of Mindfulness in healing his own physical and emotional pain, and also witnessed that instruction of Mindfulness can remarkably improve people's health and wellness.
A devout student of meditation, Peter has received intensive foundational training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine.

Dr. Michael Reife (Anatomy and Physiology) is an adjunct associate professor of basic and clinical sciences at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic. He is an adjunct instructor in the Masters of neuroscience program at the University of Hartford.
Dr. Reife has board certification as a diplomate in the American chiropractic academy of neurology and is in private practice in Marlborough, CT.

, MA, LPC, LADC is a licensed psychotherapist who has been a practicing in the Greater Hartford area for 30 years. She is also a certified Yoga Meets Dance(tm) instructor and a 200 hour certified Creative Kids Yoga(tm) teacher. In 2008 Lucy combined her therapeutic skills with her dance and yoga experience to create a program of yoga and movement for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Lucy's program became part of a research study on the effects of such a program on both the behavioral and core features of Autism. Sarajean Rudman is a talented and enthusiastic 500-hour Kripalu-trained yoga teacher and a graduate of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda Health Counselor program.  She has over a decade of experience in personal training and group fitness.  An avid runner and hiker, Sarajean also is completing her graduate studies in Human Nutrition to become a Certified Nutritionist.  Sarajean's compassion and warmth builds upon her commitment to fitness and wellness making her a formidable guide and companion on anyone's road towards health and happiness.


Maeve Ryan has been practicing yoga for more than 13 years. In 2000, Maeve attended her first yoga class as a way to strengthen and tone the body. Eight years later, she experienced her first “yoga epiphany” during savasana. That experience prompted her to dedicate herself fully to the practice of meditation and yoga as well as delve deeper into the emotional benefits of yoga. In turn, Maeve learned how to heal the physical pain associated with her hypertension and Lyme disease as well as the emotional effects stemming from anxiety. She now teaches others techniques for feeling emotionally balanced and anxiety-free, and hopes to inspire people how to tap into their greatest potential and “live yoga” both on and off the mat. Over the years, Maeve has studied various forms of yoga. She is a certified Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and completed her training at West Hartford Yoga in 2009.

Maeve’s teachers have included Kathryn Budig, Seane Corn, Raphael Cushnir, Ellen Heed, Judith Orloff, Sarah Powers, Shiva Rea, Sharon Salzberg, David Swenson, and MC Yogi. Maeve has taught yoga at various places throughout Connecticut, including Lady of America (Windsor), UConn Women’s Center (Storrs), The GYM (Bloomfield) lululemon athletica and Rasa Yoga Studio (West Hartford). Paula Scopino, E-RYT 500 hour, LMT, IAYT (Yoga For Every Body, Yoga Therapies, etc.) is the Owner/Director of Sacred Rivers Yoga and Sacred Rivers Yoga for Every Body, a Yoga Alliance 200 & 500 Hour School, as well as an IAYT school. Paula was inspired at a young age by her parents' spiritual explorations and discovered yoga at age 19. She has been a student of yoga since 1976 and has been teaching continuously since 1978 after receiving her first certification with Ruth Bender (pre Kripalu). Ruth Bender studied with Selvarjan Yesudian, who had a medical therapeutic approach to yoga.

Paula has taught in many different settings, including corporations, hospitals, and fitness and rehabilitation centers. She currently teaches Yoga Therapy in the Pulmonary lab at Hartford Hospital. With the help of Susan Bisbee at Hartford Hospital and Sharon O’Brien at St. Francis, Paula has established internship sites at both hospitals. Students in the Sacred Rivers Yoga for Every Body Yoga Alliance 200 & 500 Hour Schools have the option of teaching Yoga Therapy in the pulmonary, cardiac and oncology labs. Paula has studied many different yoga styles all over the country and has been inspired and influenced by numerous wonderful teachers. Her love and interest of yoga, movement, and energy led her to study massage therapy, Reiki, Feldenkrais, and Pilates.

Paula is a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher - 500 hour, and is a certified Cardiac Yoga Teacher, having studied "Yoga of the Heart" with Nischala Joy Devi (the stress management portion of the Dr. Dean Ornish program). Paula teaches yoga therapy for heart disease and cancer, and yoga therapy for chronic conditions, back problems, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. She teaches prenatal yoga, yoga for children, and yoga for 60, 70 and beyond. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (www.IAYT.org).

Paula graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in 1989 and is a Connecticut licensed massage therapist and member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She also assists her brother, Rick Haesche in teaching the Art of Traditional Thailand Massage in massage therapy schools as a part of their regular and continuing education curriculum. In addition, she is certified in Karuna and Usui Reiki. She is a licensed massage therapist and has maintained a private practice in massage therapy since 1989.

Paula Scopino regularly attends the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) Symposium on Yoga Research. The first on October 1-3, 2010, at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. This historic meeting was the first comprehensive and widely publicized academic research meeting in the West devoted to Yoga therapy research. Paula also attended a pre-conference workshop on the basics of yoga research.  It offered a unique opportunity for research trainees, yoga instructors, and therapists to learn the basics of Yoga research, establish connections for possible future research projects, and meet professional researchers and colleagues. In October of 2011, Paula attended the SYTAR at the Asilomar Conference in Pacific Grove, CA.  She has attended annually ever since, the most recent in Boston , June 2013. Sacred Rivers Yoga is a 'member school' of the IAYT and is developing competencies towards the accreditation for all IAYT schools.

The SYTAR weekends included Yoga research :oral and poster presentations by leading scientists, opportunities to interact and dialogue with active yoga researchers , and a comprehensive pre-conference workshop on the basics of yoga research.  The symposium for yoga research was a single track academic research meeting that included keynote speakers, Lorenzo Cohen, Dean Ornish, Shirley Telles, and Bessel van der Kolk,.   Oral presentations were invited from other senior researchers.  There were also multiple poster sessions and ample opportunities to interact with other scientists, experts and professionals in the field.

Anne Stamatakis (Subtle Energy Anatomy) has 27 years of experience in complementary touch therapies in England and California. Her additional studies and international affiliations with spiritual teachers and relationship trainers have given her a well-balanced blend of modern, traditional and intuitive methods of natural healing. Anne's focus will be on teaching energy medicine and a heightened awareness of the subtle bodies. The chakras and the human aura, the electromagnetic energy field around and inside of us, will be explained and demonstrated throughout this series of classes. Anne will encourage you to directly apply this valuable knowledge to your relationship with your body, emotions, mental beliefs, spirituality and yoga practice. Born in Brooklyn, Dhanurdhara Swami's spiritual search led him across the globe many years ago to the shelter of mystic India. He is a respected teacher in the tradition of bhakti–yoga who has lived in Vrindavana, India – the sacred land of Krishna – for over 30 years. Dhanurdhara Swami currently spends half of each year in India studying, writing, meditating and guiding pilgrims on their journeys through the holy places. The other half of the year he spends in America traveling and sharing what he has learned. He is the author of three books: Waves of Devotion , a commentary on the bhakti text Nectar of Devotion; Greetings From Vrindavana , a spiritual "travel diary" chronicling his experiences and realizations from 2000 through 2004; and Japa Meditations: Contemplations on Entering the Holy Name. http://wavesofdevotion.com The Bhagavad–gita, Indian philosophy, describes in detail the nature of the mind and how to favorably transform it. The Bhagavad–gita in particular summarizes three classical practices to facilitate that transformation: karma–yoga (the path of action), jnana–yoga (the path of knowledge) and bhakti–yoga (the path of devotion). Dhanurdhara Swami will summarize the science of transformation according to these three paths and discuss how to apply the teachings of the Bhagavad–gita in the course of daily life.

Susan Taff (Kinesiology) Susan Taff holds a Masters degree in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and a Masters degree in Public Health from Yale University. Susan has been practicing massage therapy for 12 years, teaching kinesiology and massage therapy courses. She has also studied and has been teaching yoga in the style of B. K. S. Iyengar since 1989. She brings to her yoga teaching her years of study and interest in anatomy and movement. Susan especially enjoys adapting yoga asanas for students with physical limitations.

David Tinklepaugh, MD

"I have loved this quote from the moment I first read it. So much so that it has become the guiding principle behind my work in health and wellness. There is deep wisdom in this quote, as the link between health and happiness is as fundamental as that between sunlight and warmth. I have a particular vantage point from which to observe this relationship, that of a neurologist caring every day for those with devastating illness and disability. I have concluded that it is far more useful to try and maintain good health, or promote even better health, than to wait for illness to befall. One of the main obstacles to promoting wellness is that most healthy people don't think about their future health. Because optimal health requires a long term plan and dedication, it is difficult for busy people to commit to new life patterns of behavior. So it is that I have decided to try and combine education about illness and prevention with motivation and guidance in health."

Dr. Tinklepaugh was an undergraduate at the University of Washington, receiving a bachelor of science in zoology. He received his MD from the University of Virginia, and completed a neurology residency at Yale New Haven. Following residency, he took a fellowship in neuromuscular function and disease, also at Yale New Haven. He is currently board certified in Neurology and Psychiatry and is in private practice in Norwich, CT. Dr. Tinklepaugh cares for patients with all types of neurologic illnesses but integrates traditional medicine with alternative approaches to health.

This led me to earn my 200 hr Yoga Teacher Certification. I have worked in Healthcare for 30 years. My desire to serve patients and clients more fully, led me to train as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner. I am able to integrate the principles of this practice into my position as Clinical Supervisor of a Sleep Center here in Connecticut. In my private practice, I have the privilege of witnessing and supporting the inspiring growth of my clients. As I grow in my capacity as a Phoenix Rising Practitioner, I see how our bodies have much to tell us. In the process of giving and receiving Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, I have come to view my body as a source of wisdom. I have witnessed profound change in myself and those I serve. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) is a body mind technique that is a mixture of supported yoga postures, body awareness, dialogue and integration. This process allows the receiver to experience being fully supported, both physically and emotionally, while exploring what arises in their physical body/mind as a result of experiencing an edge in the yoga postures.
